The transit zone, in the literal sense, is to some extent a place of unfreedom, the way out of which is clearly limited by a predetermined “choice”. The 2020-2021 period has become a test for most artists, as an endless stay in the zone of waiting and finding oneself in new conditions of social activity. The stiffness of this period has all the characteristics of the transit zone.

In addition, being in the transit zone of the pandemic, the artists created and destroyed borders at every stage of the struggle for their creative independence, with the perception of the fact that the limitation of freedom is primarily a choice we make in our own thoughts. The period of 2020-2021 is also an interaction at a distance, when, finding themselves alone with difficulties, artists began to actively seek a way out of the situation, using disadvantages as advantages, and the suppression of freedom as a factor for acquiring even greater freedom.

“Transit zone. “Exit Gate № 2022” is a new initiative that took place from February 1 to 8 in one of the oldest Kyiv galleries – “Mytets” gallery.

As we continue to research the impact of the pandemic on creative activity, we strive to discover new names and find new audiences for our already large community. We are sure that every artist has become stronger after passing through the 2020-2021 period. Everyone felt the limitations of freedom, and everyone received their “magical push”. Now it’s time to leave the transit zone!

The project was initiated by the association of young artists and art critics of the Kyiv organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (NUAU) with the support of the Kyiv organization of the NUAU and the “Art Research Platform MOKONSHU”

The exhibition was open from 4:00 p.m. on February 1 to 1:00 p.m. on February 8 in the “Mytets” gallery http://mytets.com/ at the address: Kyiv, Velika Vasylkivska Str., 12.
