Lviv, Ukraine. Painting, collage.
During the pandemic and all lockdowns, I’ve understood, that there are no frames in creating something real. The only frames were living inside of my mind.
Lidia Matviyenko
We met each other, during the 2020 pandemic year, me and my partner.
We started messaging, then visiting each other for some periods (we were living in different towns and regions of Ukraine), and living together after all. We were and we are learning how to live together in love and peace, trying to make maximum activities and things together: doing exercises, running, shopping, preparing food, cleaning the house we live in, practicing meditation, making love etc.
We support each other in all aspects, on the way of self-knowledge, first of all. We supported each other, when (if) one of us feel broken or sick. Well, we’re trying and if we don’t know how we learn.
That’s kind of art – living like an all-in-one system, becoming closer, despite ego, old habits and emotional traumas. That’s where we go, going through a transformation.
We discovered also, that we like creating something interesting together, recording videos or taking photos of each other, that might become collages in future, as these three, I’ve sent on the contest. My partner has more skills in taking photos, recording and video montage, in work with sound, technic side, programming, me – taking photos too, making image, painting, creating collages etc.
In 2020 and 2021 I had an opportunity to sound an audiobook (first time) in Ukrainian, with a help of my friend, in his studio, and with my partner’s help, working on sound. I’ve created illustrations and we’re going to publish it soon.
I have to say also, that I made sure for many times, that ideas come from Higher Place. The way they’re born, appear, all the process is very excited and lay in the area of Unknown. The result is always a surprise and I feel, that I am a part of all the process, a part, that helps (if not struggling) the unmanifested to manifest in this world, in this reality.
During the pandemic and all lockdowns, I’ve understood, that there are no frames in creating something real. The only frames were living inside of my mind. Place of my location, residence or ambience, people, events isn’t responsible for my inner power, creative flow and ways of my expression.
Everything is possible and reality has the ability to change.

Breathing deeply, Lidia Matviyenko, photo, digital effects (photoshop programe)
That’s a collage, a mix of photos, taking from the phone, and some manipulations in the Photoshop program. It gonna be printed on tight mate paper and framed, like the other two pieces. I think it might be a series.
There was a time when my partner was sick, he felt weak, he couldn’t work for a week, he slept a lot. He allowed me to paint his face, to put my scarf on his head, and to make a few photos. Another time, I asked him to take a photo of my body with yellow roses, which he brought that morning. I didn’t know what for, but later all the elements took their positions in this collage. He looks like someone from the times of Jesus Christ, with his beard and I like that spiritual subtext in my art. It comes naturally and I can’t explain it fully. I guess, everyone can find something of their own, something new in these works, passing it through the prism of their perception.

United with spirit, Lidia Matviyenko, photo, digital effects (photoshop programe)
Almost the same story. That’s a mix of photos and some effects in Photoshop. I’ve made some photos of my partner (on my phone), spontaneously, sometimes I can see a good shot. I didn’t know what I’m gonna do with this, the photos were waiting for their time. And when I heard about this open call, I understood, very quickly, that I can make collages from photos of my boyfriend (at that moment I had started one of these three collages). The background for this collage is a photo of the moon from my balcony, that I’ve made once, moving camera, while making a shoot. I like figure of cross very much, I can’t explain why, I like symmetry too. So, I use it. The artwork is about the way to God, Spirit, despite anything. And this way is in pair when man and woman are like one. I also leave the right for the viewer to see and feel his own version.

Charging, Lidia Matviyenko, photo, digital effects (photoshop programe)
That’s a photo of my partner too. He’s charging his body on all the plans while sleeping. He really was sleeping, I was allowed to do everything, so I took a power bank and connected in with a navel of my partner, painted his face earlier, and put that scarf on his head. I was inspired and I had no idea what am I doing. I think every one of us needs to be charged, as the battery, to live happy and fulfilled life. And taking a rest is the best idea.
