I created the series of photographs “Self-isolation”, that is a product of the events of 2020. The world was facing new crises and we were forced to stay in our own homes to protect ourselves from the Covid 19 virus, thus our perspective on everyday life was also changed.

The new reality has become a stay in the house and the search for fun and curiosity has turned us into some other perspectives and understandings.

The concept of the idea itself is to show the sequence of home situations as an expression of monotony or repetition.

Constantly staying at home leads to insight into the small worlds that surround us and are an everyday part of our day.

Due to the new situation, they have become more expressive in our lives. The idea came from simple moments, but important and inevitable, the goal is to create the aesthetics of our lives and continuous situations. Creating a series of photographs “Self-isolation”, I discovered and learned about situations of spontaneity and what it really means to look for focus and the main motive by not intervening in the composition but to beautify it and create an aesthetic of the dirtiest, ugliest and bypass.

I realized that a good photo is one that is honestly viewed and recorded for both emotional and aesthetic reasons. Anything that is ugly can be beautiful and vice versa, it is the power of photography. Each photograph has its own individual story, but as such connected in context with others of different but similar shades of value it becomes one whole, one story and way of looking. It becomes just that little world and a note of one perspective. The equipment used in the production of the series is the Nikon D 3200 camera, standard 50 mm lens and 18 – 50 mm zoom lens. The process of photography itself consisted of perceiving spontaneity and leisure as a priority of the compositional concept.

The goal was not to intervene in typical home situations but to find focus and properly frame motives. The emphasis was on the use of lighting situations, thus using natural light and artificial lighting, ie fluorescent, sodium and halogen lamps. The main part of the process, consisted of using things, soiling dishes, leaving waste so that it was done naturally and thus the idea of spontaneity was revived in accordance with the motives.

Life in small worlds, where an ordinary unnoticed dishwashing sponge soiled with coffee grounds acquires artistic value, as well as a cook with visible remnants of scrambled eggs dipped in water, makes a somewhat disturbing and disgusting picture, but in fact what everyone knows is therefore worth noticing and documenting.
