I started to think about such things which I did not used to pay attention at…
Spartak Khachanov
The spring of 2020 was announced a worldwide quarantine associated with the COVID-19 epidemic. I am in isolation in the HIAP residence, I lived locked up, lived alone for a long time, looking only from the windows of my studio on the island of Suomenlinna, Helsinki. The island on which I was, every year is visited by 1.5 million tourists. In spring, the tourist season begins, and the island is crowded with numerous tourists.
During the pandemic, the decorations of the island has changed, instead of tourists the island has the revival and blooming of nature, it was reborn, and it entirely belongs to nature: trees, plants and animals such as: geese, hares, pheasants. I watched the workshop across the windows and analyzed, anxiety, fear and forced loneliness related to the new circumstances of social isolation.
And I started to think about such things which I did not used to pay attention at, namely the catastrophic impact of a person on natural resources and the environment.
I started asking “How Can We Sustain the Possibility of Imagining A Lasting Future Beyond Our Current Hopeless State Of Affairs?” Also, after the quarantine, I started working with media such as video and Modern Technologies VR, Ar, 3D Modeling, these works were presented at Offline and online exhibitions in Helsinki, Madrid and New York and they raised the topic of ecology and natural resources.
