RESUME

Appearing in the twentieth century, the cross-cultural approach to the study of cultures is becoming gradually more popular, especially in the last ten years. Increasingly, scientific disciplines, conferences, symposia and, above all, art projects are turning to the term “cross-cultural”, which indicates the relevance of this phenomenon in light of globalization and integration of world cultures.

Currently, the main task of each ethnic community is to preserve cultural diversity, which forms the features of its uniqueness and transmission of this value to future generations. A cross-cultural approach that engages opposing cultures promotes the development of individuality and strengthens the sense of belonging to one’s own ethnic group. Therefore, openness to the dialogue of cultures contributes to the cultural enrichment not only of the individual, but also of the country as a world cultural unit.

There is a significant variation in the principles of cross-cultural interaction analysis. The most demonstrative in terms of impact on the visual language of painting are the following:

  • interconnection and interdependence;
  • contact and consequences of contact;
  • finding commonalities or differences;
  • national features.
